Choosing Your Gaming Computer

A gaming computer, sometimes referred to as a custom-made computer, is basically a computer with the intention of enhancing performance so that one can process high-powered games with greater ease and speed. There are many brands and models available from top computer hardware companies like Dell, HP, Sony and others. Each manufacturer boasts about its own best seller. But how does one really choose the best?

The best selling product or brand in the current market is usually the graphics card or video card. It is an important part of a new computer system, because it determines the quality of graphics that will be output through the display adapter when the computer is used for playing games. The number of frames per second (FPS) will determine the smoothness and motion of the game play. The smoother the motion, the faster the game is. This means that the FPS should be high enough to enable the player to easily move around the game environment and not get tired.

There are two types of graphics cards available in the market: RAMDAC and chipset based. RAMDAC is the later and the more advanced technology while chipset based is the earlier. Both have their own advantages and disadvantages. RAMDAC based computers are cheaper but do not offer the kind of power and performance that chipset based ones do. Even though they are cheaper, a good motherboard and processor combination will still give you the best performance and this combination is particularly important if you are planning on gaming.

The next most important part in a gaming computer is the display monitor. It should have a good resolution and sharp contrast ratio for good display quality. Some gamers use two monitors so that they can view both the game and the monitor simultaneously. In this case, the graphics card and the display monitor are the most important parts and this is usually the only part of the CPU that is customized for gaming.

As I said, all these parts are not important at all times. For example, you may not need a good graphics card or a processor if you are using your gaming computer to edit movie files. For this kind of uses, a quad core i5 is enough. Quad core processors are also usually more expensive and harder to upgrade than the dual core options. If you do not play very much online games, the i7 is probably a wiser choice as it offers almost the same level of performance as a six core processor.

Last but not least, what you want is a high-end configuration with an integrated i7 processor, a good graphics card, an air cooler, terabytes of ram, a solid state hard drive, and a decent sound card. Those are the requirements required to play all the latest games available today. You could go in for a gaming laptop or an Intel Core i7 but why settle for that when you could get a high-end gaming PC that will give you the best experience? All you need to do is check out some gaming reviews. In addition, you can also get some information about different models on the internet.
